Needed a change in subject matter and this is the result. I had taken this photo when we visited Chiapas back in 2007.

My art is influenced by Nancy Slaght - a renowned pastel artist from British Columbia with whom I studied with. I have fallen under the spell of chalk pastels, using this medium with my hands as brushes. I enjoy the opportunity to blend the colors to make my paintings realistic. I particularly enjoy painting animals, especially pets. My goal is to capture the essence of the pet. I am willing to paint pets on consignment from photographs.
Great job on this one Barbara! You really get a sense of the people and the colors. I like the subtle way you have chosen to show the buildings in the background. You've captured Chiapas in this pastel. It is distinctly Barbara Warren in style.
