My art is influenced by Nancy Slaght - a renowned pastel artist from British Columbia with whom I studied with. I have fallen under the spell of chalk pastels, using this medium with my hands as brushes. I enjoy the opportunity to blend the colors to make my paintings realistic. I particularly enjoy painting animals, especially pets. My goal is to capture the essence of the pet. I am willing to paint pets on consignment from photographs.
I like this piece too. You are definitely developing a style that is very much your own. I think that this is one of primary goals of every artist. Too many artists play around with different styles and techniques. It is important to develop your unique style so that people recognize the piece as yours. This is definitely a 'Barbara Warren' pastel.
